SRMIST funds and supports close to 25 student teams in different domains with a vision to provide experiential learning beyond academics. The teams participate in both national and international events. Our department student’s participation is major and they also lead many teams. These student teams provide them with real hand on experience and enrich their team work, time management, financial management skills etc.

Team WRO after winning 3rd place at WRO 2018
Team Autocreed racing participated in FORMULA KART DESIGN CHALLENGE – FKDC season 4 (2019)at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore, and won the Overall runner-up of FKDC 2019 event category. They also won prizes in 5 different categories.
Team Autocreed racing participated in 2024 TAMIL NADU KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP (TNKC), Season 1, an Electric and IC Engine Go Kart event conducted at Coimbatore. Won the Overall Championship' in the Electric Vehicle (EV) category

Team Autocreed racing participated in 2024, FORMULA KART DESIGN CHALLENGE – FKDC season 8 at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. The team won National Level 3rd in the EV category and was the Winner of the Design event category.
In 2025, Go Kart Design Challenge (GKDC) Season-12 at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. Our team won various trophies in the following categories. The team achieved the following: 1. All India Ranking(EV category): 4th Place , AutoCross (EV category): 3rd place

Founded Torus Robotics Pvt Ltd - Startup India recognized (DIPP-51485), Tech start-up working on Unmanned Ground Vehicles, Robotics & one of world’s most compact, lightweight and powerful Motor technology, which are 50% Lighter, 15% more efficient and 10% more cost effective than the commercially imported motors in the market.
Ashhar Ahmed Shaikh (2014-2018)
Founded BharatMobi which has formulated a standard EV Conversion kit which can electrify a large number of vehicles with the aim to produce efficient, eco-friendly and sustainable electric vehicles.The company has already converted 25 vehicles and is now working on vintage models. One of their ongoing prestigious projects is a Ford Mustang 1969 Model.
Shubham Gujar (2017-2021)
Found "WORLDOMATE PRIVATE LIMITED" which is recognized as a 'Startup' by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. Worldomate Automation provides proprietary automation solutions, to prevent wastage of electricity and access control..
